Motorcycle ride in Liechtenstein

Triesenberg heights: Masescha, Gaflei and Planken

27 km (17 miles), 55 min, intermediate

Above Vaduz, the Walser hamlets of Triesenberg are the starting point for the Fürstensteig, often described as the most famous walk in Liechtenstein, and for the Drei Schwestern (Three Sisters) traverse. The road climbs in bends from Vaduz to Triesenberg, then via Silum to the Gaflei car park at the end of the road. From there the exposed path, fitted with cables, is only for sure-footed walkers with a head for heights. You come back down via the hamlet of Masescha, high above the Rhine valley, then a second climb from Schaan leads to Planken, the other gateway to the Three Sisters. Narrow, steep roads shared with local service buses; the small car parks fill up fast on fine weekends.
