Data Controller

The data controller is the publisher of the MotoLert app. For any questions regarding your data, contact the publisher by email or use the Support page.

Data We Collect

Depending on the features you use, MotoLert may process:

• Precise location and speed to track your position, display maps, calculate routes, and present nearby alerts.
• Account information when you sign in with Apple, including your account identifier and, if shared, your name and profile photo.
• Group ride data when you voluntarily enable sharing: latitude, longitude, heading, and the display name and avatar associated with your account.
• Garage and ride data such as motorcycles, mileage, registration plate, VIN, maintenance records, parts, notes, documents, extracted or summarized text, photos, saved places, routes, and GPS tracks that you add.
• Community reports including the type of hazard, its location, and the time of reporting.
• Technical and diagnostic data necessary for operation, security, and reliability, including the app and iOS versions and MetricKit reports about crashes, hangs, CPU or disk exceptions, and launch performance.
• Email address and consent record when you join the waitlist, together with your selected language and limited marketing attribution for the visit source.
• Advertising and consent data in the free version, based on your choices and settings available on your device.

Guest Mode and Account Synchronization

In guest mode, data belonging to your guest profile, including your garage, maintenance records, documents, photos, saved rides, and preferences, stays only on that iPhone. It is not synchronized with a MotoLert account. Online services you choose to use, such as maps, community alerts, or advertising, may still exchange the limited data described in the other sections of this policy.

When you sign in, the guest profile’s local data is attached and transferred to the signed-in account. It may then be synchronized with MotoLert’s infrastructure, like other account data, so it can be restored after reinstalling the app and remain associated with that account.

Purposes of Processing

• Providing real-time radar, speed, and alert features.
• Calculating and tracking user-requested routes.
• Continuing background location tracking when an active ride or navigation is in progress.
• Organizing your garage and documents.
• Publishing and maintaining community reports.
• Synchronizing and restoring data associated with your account.
• Sharing a ride and participants’ recent locations when this feature is enabled.
• Managing accounts, subscriptions, and purchase restoration.
• Notifying you of MotoLert’s launch and sending only the essential product news accepted when joining the waitlist.
• Preventing abuse and improving MotoLert’s stability.

Location Sharing During a Group Ride

Location sharing is optional. It starts only when you choose to create or join a group ride and enable sharing. Invited members join the ride using its code, so share that code only with the riders you intend to invite.

While sharing is active, MotoLert sends your latitude, longitude, and heading approximately every three seconds, together with the display name and avatar associated with your account. This information is intended for members who joined the same ride using its code.

You can stop sharing at any time. Your last location is erased from the service no later than 120 seconds after sharing stops or no new location is received. Group ride data is deleted no later than 24 hours after the scheduled departure time and, in all cases, no later than 31 days after it is created.

PDF Exports and Archives

PDF exports and archives are generated locally on the iPhone from the information you choose. Creating one does not automatically send it to MotoLert. If you decide to save or share a PDF, it is sent only to the app, file, or service you select in the iOS share sheet; that destination then applies its own privacy policy. Local copies remain under your control, and temporary files may be cleared by MotoLert or iOS.

Sharing and Third-Party Services

On the website, camera-entry mini-maps load their background from OpenStreetMap only when they become visible. These requests send that service your IP address, browser technical information, the motolert.app origin and the requested map area. This is the camera’s location, not your GPS position. This feature sends no account or personal-trip data. See the OpenStreetMap privacy policy.

MotoLert does not sell your personal data. Certain information may be shared with strictly necessary service providers for the features used: Apple for sign-in and purchases, mapping and routing services for navigation, MotoLert’s technical infrastructure for account synchronization, group rides, and reports, SigNoz for technical diagnostic analysis, and Google for displaying advertising in the free version.

Each provider processes data according to its own terms and policies. Mapping features may vary depending on the available service and subscription type.

Waitlist entries are hosted on MotoLert’s technical infrastructure. If an email delivery provider is selected, its identity and any data transfers will be disclosed here before it is used.

Advertising and Consent

Users of the free version may see advertisements delivered via Google Mobile Ads. MotoLert configures its ad requests for non-personalized ads. Where required by law, a form allows you to grant or decline the consents requested by Google. These choices can be reviewed in the app settings when a privacy notice is available.

Before allowing Google Mobile Ads to access an identifier that can be used for cross-app advertising measurement, MotoLert also asks for permission through iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT). Declining does not prevent you from using MotoLert or seeing non-personalized ads.

Even for a non-personalized ad, Google may process technical information needed to deliver and measure it and to prevent fraud: IP address, device and app characteristics, ad interactions, consent signals, and device, app, or advertising identifiers. Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA) is transmitted only when iOS and your permission allow it; otherwise, Google may still use limited identifiers for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud prevention. The Premium version removes advertising placements from MotoLert. Purchases and subscription status are managed by Apple.

Waitlist and Launch Emails

Joining the waitlist relies on your consent through a dedicated, unchecked checkbox. We record the email address, language, date and version of that consent, plus attribution limited to source, medium, and campaign. The email address is not linked to your browsing path or an analytics identifier.

This data is used only to announce the launch and send essential MotoLert news you accepted. It is retained until you withdraw consent and no longer than three years after collection or your last contact. It will be deleted earlier if the waitlist is no longer useful.

You may withdraw consent at any time through the Support page. Every email sent will also provide a simple unsubscribe method.

Website Analytics

The current measurement series renews sessions after thirty minutes of inactivity and at the UTC day boundary. Your approximate network country is estimated locally on our server from the IP address, without storing it in these statistics or sending it to an external geolocation service. No GPS point is collected. The presence view groups sessions by country over two minutes. Deduplication keys expire after thirty-six hours; aggregates are kept for up to thirteen months. An optional technical cookie excludes this browser from statistics for one year and excludes demo registrations. Previously consented visits remain subject to their retention period, but new visits are not linked across sessions.

By default, the MotoLert website measures traffic sources, UTM campaigns, pages and sections viewed, reading depth, as well as links and buttons used. This measurement is limited to the current session and feeds solely aggregated statistics. It does not include raw IP addresses, form content, or identifiers enabling recognition across sessions.

You can disable this measurement at any time below. This does not block access to the website or voluntary waitlist registration. Your email address remains separate from browsing data.

Storage and Retention

Guest profile data is stored locally until it is deleted, the app is uninstalled, or the data is transferred to an account. Temporary PDF files may be cleared by MotoLert or iOS. A saved or shared copy remains in your selected destination until it is deleted by you or that service.

Account-related data may be retained on MotoLert’s infrastructure for as long as necessary to provide synchronization and requested features, comply with legal obligations, or address a security incident. Retention periods for group locations and rides are set out in the “Group Location Sharing” section above.

MetricKit technical reports are sent to MotoLert’s infrastructure and then to its SigNoz observability tool. They are retained only for the operational period needed to investigate an incident and maintain service reliability and security.

You may delete your account from within the app profile. Associated data is then deleted or anonymized, except where limited retention is mandated by law or necessary for asserting rights.

Your Rights and Choices

You may request access, rectification, deletion, or limitation of your personal data, and object to certain processing where permitted by law. You also control location, photos, camera, and notification permissions via iOS settings.

You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. You may also lodge a complaint with the French CNIL.

Changes

This policy may be updated as MotoLert evolves or regulations change. The update date will be revised on this page, and if the change is material, a notice will appear in the app.
