Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park and the Holterberg

The Sallandse Heuvelrug is a glacial ridge of 26 hills covered with heather moors and forests, protected as a national park and crossed by the Pieterpad between Hellendoorn and Holten. From Ommen, the road passes the foot of the Lemelerberg, known for its views, then reaches Hellendoorn, Haarle, the park's western gateway, and Nijverdal, home to the visitor centre. It then crosses the ridge over the Holterberg, the park's southern entrance with its nature museum, to Holten. Small wooded roads at low speed, very busy with cyclists: ride gently.
