Motorcycle ride in Occitanie

Cirque de Navacelles, between the Larzac and the Cévennes

77 km (48 miles), 1 hr 45 min, intermediate

The Cirque de Navacelles, a Grand Site de France, is a huge meander abandoned by the Vis river, cut between the Causse du Larzac and the Causse de Blandas. From Ganges, the road runs up the Vis valley to Madières, reaches Saint-Maurice-Navacelles and the Baume Auriol viewpoint, then drops in hairpins to the village of Navacelles, at the bottom of the cirque. The climb back gives the other view, from the Blandas viewpoint, before crossing the causse towards Le Vigan and returning to Ganges. Tight, narrow hairpins: take care in summer, when there are many visitors.
