A legendary crossing of the Alps. From Briançon, the road climbs to the Col du Lautaret then the Galibier (2,642 m), drops down to Valloire and crosses the Col du Télégraphe before reaching the Maurienne. Tight hairpins and a narrow road near the summit. The Galibier is closed in winter: check it is open before you go.
