Motorcycle ride in Friesland

The Afsluitdijk and the Friesland coast

36 km (22 miles), 40 min, beginner

The Afsluitdijk, a 32 km dyke completed in 1932, separates the Wadden Sea from the IJsselmeer. From Den Oever, the road runs between two stretches of water via Breezanddijk and the Kornwerderzand locks, then reaches Makkum, a Frisian village known for its earthenware. Crosswinds on the dyke are often strong.
