Col du Tourmalet and Col d’Aspin
62 km (38 miles), 1 hr 25 min, advanced
Two giants of the Pyrenees, one after the other, from Luz-Saint-Sauveur. The climb via Barèges leads to the Tourmalet (2,115 m), then the descent runs through La Mongie to Sainte-Marie-de-Campan. The Col d’Aspin, shorter and wooded, gives a view of the range before Arreau. The passes are closed in winter.
