Motorcycle ride in Hidalgo

Hidalgo mining villages: Real del Monte and Huasca

31 km (19 miles), 1 hr 30 min, intermediate

North-east of Mexico City, the road leaves Pachuca and climbs through the forest to Mineral del Monte, an old mining village with English influences. It passes Omitlán, then Huasca de Ocampo, the country's first "pueblo mágico", and goes down to the basalt prisms of Santa María Regla. Slippery cobbles in the villages.
